We are Twilight Nerds!!

Fine, I admit it. I love the Twilight books. I am one of those girls. Don't judge. Well, back when Breaking Dawn (the last book in the series, for those of you that live under a rock) came out, I decide to have a fun little midnight release party with my extended family. It was so fun! Then, we got together a few weeks later to talk about the book and the Thompson Girls Book Club was born. We have continued to meet once a month and talk about awesome girlie books. Well, this month was the release of the Twilight movie so I figured we had to go together. We hit up the movie and then some delicious lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. It was so much fun! Thanks ladies!! Oh...and thanks Davey!

Happy Birthday to Peggy and Lucy!! We made this whole thing into a Twilight/Birthday/Bookclub Bash. My family is just so much fun to be around! Be jealous.
I apparently love to take pictures of people when they are totally not expecting it. I would never be able to be a photographer. I am so bad a taking pictures. Sorry girls, but they still make me smile. Especially Joan in this one....

Oh, and the book we read this month was Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Hot dang....it was a good book. I think this was the first book that every single one of us loved. All you other Thompson girls that haven't been able to make it to book club yet, you better start. Look how much fun we have!

Before the Ouch

I just found some before pictures of my tattoos. They are crappy pics but you can see that they didn't always look like the prison tats they have been for the last 7 years.
On another note.....how glad are we that I am documenting something that I am so not proud of? :)

Ouch

On Monday I went to another appointment to get my tattoos removed. It has been 7 years since my last one. I have done three total and have like 5 more to go. It was surprisingly non-painful this time. I remembered a lot more pain from last time. What a happy surprise. They still look nasty though.

Apple Taste Test

My mom was over here the other day and knowing my silly excitement over a delicious apple, told me that she tried a new flavor. A new flavor of apple?? Can that even be possible?? I thought there was only Red Delicious since that is what my husband likes, and all I ever buy at the store. It's not my favorite so every now and then I buy just one of another flavor for me and that's how my mom became aware of my silly excitement over apples. Well, I decided enough with the blasted Red Delicious! That's right, I've snapped! I bought four of every type of apple that I didn't recognize the name of. I wanted to try them all and make Adam pick a new favorite. McKay decided we needed an apple taste testing contest. Everything has to be a contest with these freaking kids!
So I sliced 'em up, slopped up some peanut butter (McKay's idea too) and the good times ensued!
(Notice McKay lost both his front teeth. One was ready, the other one his brother knocked out. It was a tiny bit loose but still had weeks to go. Ahhh....the joy of boys!)
I decided the Pink Lady was my favorite. The Ambrosia were delicious with the peanut butter, and the Honeycrisp were only so-so. Red Delicious, I abjure you!

Mason...don't let him fool you!

I have this child named Mason. He is so so shy. It's actually really painful to watch sometimes. Just yesterday at church someone tried to talk to him and his face just turned bright red. But this kid has more to offer than we know. He is an absolute charmer. I wish I could bottle his rare moments and save them for those days when he's being the naughty mischievous liar that the 4 year old inside him likes to be.

Here is an example of his charm. We were playing 20 questions yesterday. Mason had a person in mind that we were all trying to guess. We knew it was a girl and that she wasn't in our family. I asked if we see her at church. He said no. I asked if we see her at school. Nope to that one too. So McKay asked if we see her at the Children's Museum (seriously...the children's museum??). Mason then gets this look on his face. It's the one I know to watch out for because he's being silly. He told McKay that yes, we do indeed see her at the Children's museum. I asked what her name was (it's a very loosely structured 20 questions, no real rules about name giving. makes it easy). He rolled his eyes and said, "Okay, we don't see her there but I really like the children's museum, so maybe we should see her there." Where do kids come up with these things?

But more important, I just typed that whole story and realized it's way more funny to me than it would be to anyone else because it was his face that made it so funny and cute. Ah, good times, good times.

I was just spending time with him today and realized he is funny and charming, even though no one ever gets to see it. Sorry that the story didn't really make that a point. What can you do but love my humor (or lack there of). :)

I'm having one of "those" days!

Today is just one of those days. I just don't feel like doing anything besides looking at cute baby pics of my kids. I want these babies back for just a minute. Get some good snuggling in and smell that baby smell, then I think I'd be good for a few more years. My mom always warned me that they grow up fast but who ever really believes their mom?!

Carson was my only one that had jaundice. He was one orange baby. Oh, and really fat too. This is him at like one or two weeks old. How freakin hilarious is that kids hair??!! I can't believe I let him go around looking like that. Well, actually I guess I can because even though it's funny, it's darn cute!
Oh Mckay. He was always smiling and always moving. I probably miss this baby the most. He was way easier to contain than the current version.
And there's the type of day I'm having. I did go out to lunch with just Carson and Mason, so that makes me feel better!

Grandpa John Merrifield

Adam's last living grandparent passed away on Saturday evening, after an eventful 81 years of life. He was a wonderful, funny man. I'm glad to have had the chance to know him and love him. We are headed to California for a short trip to spend some time celebrating this amazing man's life. He will be missed!

I got this picture off Adam's cousin's website. It's Grandpa and his great-grandson Logan. How freaking adorable is this?!!!

Fun times!

I love Halloween! It is one of my favorite holidays. That and Easter. Anytime I get huge amounts of candy for no reason makes me happy. Here are what my kids looked like.....
Cason was a little freaked out by Mason's face at first.
And here is Adam's spook-tacular photo taking skills....
